Thinking of vending at the farmers market this coming summer? Here’s what you need to know!

Vendors must make the items they are selling themselves, and their products must fit into at least one of our five categories.

  • Produce/Harvest (eg. vegetables, eggs, honey, fish, flowers, berries, etc.)

  • Processed Products (eg. preserves, cheese, packaged meals, etc.)

  • Baked Goods/ Confectionaries (eg. bread, muffins, cookies, chocolate, fudge, etc.)

  • Food Concession (eg. ready-to-eat meals)

  • Artisanal Items (eg. jewelry. clothing, pottery, soap, etc.)

Also…

  • Review our Vendor Handbook.

  • If you want to sell food, make sure you have a valid food safety certificate. The GNWT’s health department lists courses you can take here.

  • All food vendors are also required to obtain a Temporary Food Establishment Permit from the GNWT’s Environmental Health Office (EHO). While you don’t need to apply for this until after our selection process, it’s a good idea to connect with the EHO ahead of time so you are familiar with requirements for selling food. Reach them at Environmental_health@gov.nt.ca.

The Yellowknife Farmers Market acknowledges and appreciates the land that sustains us. We hold our weekly market in Chief Drygeese territory, the traditional land of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation. We respect the histories, languages, and cultures of the Yellowknives and all other Indigenous Peoples including the North Slave Métis, and all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose presence continues to enrich our vibrant community.
